Today we will make your way back to Johannesburg International Airport. Check in for your South African Airways flight to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, departing at 10:10am and arriving at 11:05am. Collect a Group C rental vehicle. A Group C is a Nissan Tiida, or similar, with automatic transmission, power steering, air conditioning, and a radio/tape player (including one way drop off fees, delivery and collection fees, government tax, unlimited mileage, the option of cellular phone rental, collision damage waiver, theft loss waiver, personal accident insurance, national and regional maps). Following the directions provided, drive to Highgrove House.
31 May to 3 June
Spend three nights at Highgrove House in a Luxury Room, with dinner and breakfast included.
Highgrove House is an owner-run country estate situated in the heart of Mpumalanga, close to Kruger National Park. It is ideally located for exploring nearby natural wonders, such as the Mac Mac falls, God?s Window, Bourke?s Luck Potholes and the Blyde River Canyon. Alternately, stay on the property (a working farm) and relax by the pool, explore the forest, or stroll through acres of avocado and banana plantations
3 June
Today we will depart Highgrove House and drive to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport. Check in for your South African Airways flight to Cape Town, departing at 1:35pm and arriving at 4:00pm. We will be met by a representative of our local partners and transferred by private vehicle to Welgelegen Guest House.
3 to 5 June
Spend two nights at Welgelegen Guest House in a Superior Room, with breakfast included.
5 June
Today a Group C rental vehicle will be delivered to us at Welgelegen (same specifications as above). Following the directions provided, drive to Grootbos Nature Reserve.
5 to 8 June
Spend three nights at Grootbos Nature Reserve in a Luxury Suite, on a full board and activities basis (including accommodation, dinner and breakfast, activities: walks, nature drives, and horse rides on the private reserve, guided excursions to view whales, guided beach walks, visits to a nearby important archaeological site, and visits to the historical light house at danger point).
Grootbos Nature Reserve is nestled in the fynbos clad hills above Walker Bay, with beautiful views of the dunes, sea and distant Cape of Good Hope. The reserve is home to more than 1 000 species of Cape flora as well as a host of small animals such as Bush Buck, Porcupine, Grey Duiker and Lynx. The lodge is discretely set in an ancient Milkwood forest. Each cottage has been built from locally hewn stone and timber and has a large en suite bathroom, a cozy sitting area complete with wood stove, and a balcony.
8 June
Today we will drive to Cape Town International Airport. Return our rental vehicle to Budget and check in for our South African Airways flight to Johannesburg, departing at 1:40pm and arriving at 3:40pm. Connect with our South African Airways flight to New York (JFK) departing at 7:10pm.
